Some texture for your Tuesday 🌀 texture & shape was inspired by a ceramicist I found, Jade Flowers. Also reminds me of the silk floss tree (Ceiba speciosa). Featuring some Matilija poppy (aka fried egg flower, Romneya coulter) • ||| • This piece revolves around the idea of dichotomies - things in opposition that inform each others distinction - destruction and growth, defensiveness and vulnerability, smooth and spiky, soft and hard. What else comes to mind? What would you name this piece?

Some line work for your Sunday ✍️💫🌿 which color background is your favorite? For me, something about the green background speaks to me - it’s giving pea soup & I’m kinda a fan 🫛💚

Flowy foliage | 16”x20” | I watched a video by artist David Choe about the artistic process and in it he said “I’m a human being, not a human doing” and it’s now stuck in my head. I’m trying to embrace the essence of being, while shifting expectations of productivity and associated anxiety of doing-ness. Creating has always been an outlet for me and a space for unadulterated feeling, but I do get in my head about it sometimes and I forget that the process is just as important as the result. So here’s some colorful musings that I released from my being. There’s something wonderful and daunting about creating, like here it is, a piece of me, a thing brought to life from me simply being me. ✨🎨

Portals of growth • 🌿❇️✨ • reflection, introspection, finding direction

New piece 💚🌿❇️ 14”x18” acrylic on stretched canvas | sold I infuse feelings into my art. Color to me, holds and portrays emotions. This piece was the first I sat down and worked on in a while. (Note about me, I’m always creating, I can’t not create, except when I’m struggling with my depression). I started out with dark base layers, blacks blues purples. And slowly, layer by layer, lifted the piece into the brighter green foliage and northern lights -esque sky you see now. The red twisting shapes feel like love to me, always present, but sometimes feels lost, hidden, engulfed in all the heaviness of the world. I don’t always narrate my art because I feel that the power of art is in its subjectivity. But I share this to give a piece of me, and to let you know that you are not alone. Things might feel bleak. The news overwhelming. I hope you give yourself the care and grace you deserve to continue navigating through. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself.
